I could have listed them all in the title, but I chose instead to have them here.
Rite of Passage
Rite of Passage
- This was the idea that the kingdoms might have a Rite of Passage specific to them (though some could be festivals) (i.e the gryphons having a RoP/festival where all the young who could not yet fly met together and flew for the first time together as a symbol of growing up)
Naming
- This would be something that would be more traditional, rather than mandatory, and perhaps more popular among royalty. The idea here being that kingdoms might have a traditional way of naming their children. This varies by kingdom but to give an example: In kingdom X they follow heritage through the father, names reflect this. A couple in kingdom X have a son, the father's name is John, and they name their son Lee. Since they follow family heritage through the father, Lee's full name would be Lee Johnson because he is John's son. Of course, not everyone would have the same set up. Some cultures might follow family heritage through the mother and so the daughter's name is favored. Some might not care so much about that and instead have certain letters and vary between boy and girls. For example: In Kingdom Y 'aa' is feminine and 'a' is masculine. A couple in Kingdom Y have two children and following tradition, name them accordingly. Their daughter is name Miaare and their son is named Yamr. For even more variation, some kingdoms might have add-ons to the name. For example: In Kingdom Z the add on 'zo mali' (meaning daughter of) is feminine and 'zo mala' (meaning son of) is masculine. A couple in Kingdom Z have two children. Their mother's name in Nari and their father's name is Sizar. Following tradition, their daughter's name is Jytra zo mali Nari and their son's name is Ke zo mala Sizar. Each child has their own name and the add-on which states who their parents are and their gender.
Punishments
That's all I've got so far, but I needed to have this here before I forgot ^^;
- Granted this idea would honestly depend on the ruler and their views of mulilation as a form of punishment, I'll say hypothetically the ones I mention have rulers that see no issue with it. Take Criminal A here. Criminal A has done something bad enough, it is decided his punishment should not be light. Let's say Criminal A is a gryphon. His crime is bad enough that perhaps his wings or beak (or both) would be clipped to mark him as a criminal and outcast him from everyone else before being taken to prison. Now, let's say Criminal A is a dragon. He has again, done something bad enough to deserve a severe punishment. For this case, let's say Criminal A has murdered someone. Using Fire magic, the letter 'M' could be permanently branded into him in multiple places (like his face, chest, leg etc.). Now, Criminal A is a feline,as before, he's done something deserving of a harsh punishment. Perhaps his claws may be removed or maybe his canine teeth to separate him from other felines and cast him out.
